thirty biblical reasons to vote democratic in 2020: #9 Kindness & Mercy

Thus says the Lord of Hosts: Render true judgments, show kindness and mercy to one another…”  –Zechariah 7:9 (NRSV)

Those who study the Bible know that when a passage begins with Thus Sayeth the Lord, you’d better pay attention to what comes next…

Render true judgments…that means look at something and get the truth from it. We’ve already covered the inability of the president to tell the truth in #3; so we will move on to kindness and mercy. Because there is another verse like this one that stands out to me. And in the Bible, when the Lord repeats something, it is because it is important and He wants us to get it!

“He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you?
To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.” — Micah 6:8 (NIV)

Render true judgments, Act justly, love mercy, walk humbly with God. It’s not too much to ask of our leaders, is it?
